You are reading this because you need a copywriter who specializes in the power generation industry. You want someone able to write both short form (email, newsletters, blogs, etc) and long-form (case studies, white papers) within the industry. Whatever your need, you probably want to know more about me before you hire me to write for you. If we were in an interview, you would ask me questions. I will answer some of those questions here.
Q: What experience do you have in power generation?
A: I spent almost twenty years as a data analyst, including five (2011-16) working at one of the top energy consulting companies, Solomon Associates. There I was responsible for analyzing power generation data from around the world, and learned in great detail about the industry. I learn new things quickly. In fact, I was hired at the same time as a person with three decades of power plant experience, and within six months others were telling me that I knew more about power generation than that person.
Q: So how are you now a copywriter?
A: At the end of 2016 I resigned from Solomon, wanting to work for myself. Always interested in writing, I took classes with the leading copywriting company, American Writers & Artists Inc. (AWAI). They gave me specialized training in many aspects of copywriting, including how to write sales letters, medium- and long-form copy, white papers, and search-engine optimization (SEO).
Q: What other experience do you have in direct response or public relations?
A: I spent eight years working for a small mail shop in Dallas, doing everything from data analysis to address correction to stuffing envelopes. In that time I learned a lot about marketing, about how to segment your mailing lists (mailing different offers to different groups, depending on their prior purchasing patterns), and how to put together packages to attract those different segments. I worked with everyone from the people running the printers to the CEOs of other companies, and all levels in between.
Q: What kind of assignments do you handle?
A: I write medium- and long-form content. I am very good at in-depth research for white papers and case studies. I write regular newsletters and blog posts. I can write articles for your site or for publication. I'm also good at planning a series of content, with the goal of promoting your product over time.
Q: Do you offer consulting services?
A: Yes, I am happy to discuss other opportunities with you. We can talk about how to market your company, and methods to get your market to listen. I have also done copy editing, fact checking, and proof-reading, among other things. Contact me with your needs and we can talk.
Q: What does it cost to hire you?
A: I charge professional-level fees for a professional service. For each project we will have an initial discussion of what you need, and then I will provide a quote which is good for 30 days. I provide a firm price with no hourly or hidden fees, so once we begin working together you will know exactly how much it will cost you. Of course, my goal is to provide value for the service you receive, and I expect that your return on investment will make you happy with the outcome of our working together.
Q: How long will it take?
A: As you would expect, the scope of work varies greatly from project to project. My current workload will also affect our timetable. In general, once we agree a contract, I will begin work and you will see initial results within a couple of weeks. This depends on how much is to be done and the availability of you or others to answer questions about the project. Please read about my Writing System for more in-depth information.
Q: What happens if we want revisions?
A: Sometimes clients like to tweak the work for their own reasons. I provide as many free revisions as necessary until you are happy with the result. This is my guarantee that you will be pleased with the outcome.
